Happy (Early) Halloween!

Rob and I bought our pumpkins a little early this year because we are having a little get together this weekend to play games and dress up in costumes! We wanted to have our pumpkins ready for the party, so last night we decided to start carving! We had a lot of fun during the process - although Rob still doesn't understand how I'm ok touching all the nasty stuff inside the pumpkin and yet I have a problem touching other things -- like meat. Of course, the logical explanation is that I don't have to EAT what comes out of the pumpkin. Makes sense to me..

Anyways, here are the two pumpkins we carved:

This is the Joker based on Arkham Asylum, carved by Rob. I love it!

This pumpkin was carved by me, and it is Jack from The Nightmare Before Christmas - which is one of the greatest movies ever made. :)

Happy Columbus Day!

And, I say that only because today is a holiday for me! :) Sadly for Rob, he had to work - but on the plus side, he was able to work from home which was a treat for both of us! It's nice having an extra day off.. but it makes it that much harder to want to go back to work! :)

Canton, Oh Canton!

This weekend, Rob and I drove out to Canton for First Monday and met lots of family members there. We got to stay onsite in Sam & Peggy's trailer which made it really nice to go shop and come back and take break and start again. We had so much fun getting to hang out with family as well as getting to shop and look at all the neat things for sale! The only downside was that the weather was rainy Saturday evening and Sunday morning. But that just meant more games and family time! Anyways, here are pictures of what we bought this weekend! :)

Out new table decoration - I just need a new candle for it!

It's Fall Y'all.. door sign! And two bats that will be hung up for Halloween! So cute!

Mummies! Oh my!

Welcome Home Honey! :)

Rob and I found this a long time ago at Half Price Books but didn't buy it.. went back to get it and it was gone! But we found another one!

Magnetic picture holder that will go in the kitchen

Cookbook holder!

New shoes from my in-laws! Love them!

Snack food! Yum!

Special all around!

This past Thursday, September 24th was a special day for a few reasons. First of all, it marks my Aunt Colette & Uncle Bill's 26th wedding anniversary! It is interesting to note that they got married 26 years ago - which would make the year 1983. That, my friends, was the same year I was born, and only 3 months after their marriage. So it is really easy for me to remember how long they have been married because of how old I am! :) Lucky for me they got married when they did - otherwise they might not have been my godparents!

On this same day, Rob and I were invited to the Contemporary Handweavers of Houston (CHH) Annual Sale. My aunt, amoung many others, are members of this group and had items in the sale. So Rob and I wanted to attend in order to support those members (especially my aunt!) as well as share in their anniversary! So, we went downtown to go to the sale and there were so many neat things up for grabs! We ended up buying mainly from family, but there were a couple of other neat things we bought too.

Here are a few of the things we bought!

This is a purse made and painted by Caryn (my Aunt Colette's sister). It is a "Green" Bag as it is made from recycled and fused Target shopping bags. It was handwoven with hand felted embellishments. It is absolutely adorable!

This is as it looks -- a pumpkin on a stand. This item was made by Aunt Colette. The pumpkin was hand felted, wool fiber fill, and then the metal stand. There are also sparkling pieces on the leaves and top of the pumpkin that really make this piece stand out! We are excited to have this piece just in time for the season and holiday!

This is another hand made felt piece made by Aunt Colette. The bottom of it has an antique clip which can hook onto say, a Christmas tree..!

This last piece we purchased was made by D.D. Woodbury. Before the sale started, Aunt Colette told me all about this item - and said that it should be the first thing I look for. This is a handwoven dove made from silk. D.D. had a little fabric left from making her daughter's wedding dress and used it to create this. I even had the pleasure of meeting D.D. during the sale which was really neat. Let me just say that everyone who saw this in my basket was sad that they were not one of the first people in line because they wanted it!

I <3 Beer

The outside of St. Arnold's
This was stamped on my hand earlier today, but has since been washed off. Today we (me, Rob, Wes, and Kelly) took a tour of the St. Arnold's brewery. This was of course Wes' idea, but we were glad to come along and sample some beers. The placement of the brewery was interesting - it seemed to be quite small and in a business center. There was no a.c. which made it a bit hot, but the good news is that they will be moving to a new location which will be bigger and be air conditioned! Yay! For the first 20-30 minutes of the "tour" we heard this guy talk more about how the company got started.. all the history.. Then we got to get in line with our drinking glass (included with the 5 dollar entry fee) and taste some beers. I think we had two each - although we had the chance to get four. Hunger and heat got the best of us! Anyways, we had a great time, and would consider going to the new cooler location! Here are a few pics from our day today! Drink on!

Rob's "beer goggles" --- I think he liked the beer :)

Happy Labor Day!

Ok, Happy Belated Labor Day, but you get the idea! Even though we had an extra day added onto the weekend, it seems like time flew by! We did have a fun weekend though so perhaps that is why things went by so quickly. On Saturday morning, Rob and I headed down to Deer Park to spend some the day/evening with the family. To our surprise, there were more people coming in than originally thought - but that made it all the better! :) We had an amazingly good and big lunch and of course, we played games throughout the day. The next morning, we played more games and watched an episode or two of Bones before leaving to go to our next destination! Rob and I went to Kelli's house to spend the day/night with them. Rob hadn't met Jackson yet - so we needed to get that done! Also, one of my best friends Janae was coming into town to meet Jackson - and bringing her main squeeze Daniel for us to meet! We all pitched in cooking different things for dinner that evening, and played a handful of games with them. On Monday, Kelli's parents came into town and all 8 and a half (Jackson!) of us went to eat a great lunch at BJ's.
Here's a great pic of Janae being the sheriff in the game Bang!

All in all, we had a great weekend, but like I said, time flew by. I would have loved to have spent more time with friends and family, but am glad we got the time in that we did! By the way, is it the weekend again yet?? :)

This picture was taken on our trip into Bridge City to celebrate Peggy's Birthday! Yay family!

Three years ago, my life completely changed (for the better) and I met someone amazing and incredible, and lucky for me, he felt the same way! I love you honey, and can't wait for another year of loving you!!

This is one of our first pictures together.. Can't you just tell we're a perfect pair? :)
