Work!

Well, I've almost made it through my first week of work. It is so nice to be back at the school I worked at before because I know so many people and have friends there from last year. This year is a little different than this year, but in some ways the same. Like last year, I am still working one-on-one with a student but this student is much less of a behavior issue. It's nice to not have to worry about if I'll get beat up or not each and every day.. And it's nice to be working with such a sweet child who needs lots of love and attention. It's definitely different than my year last year, but so far so good!

Another Vet Visit...

My poor little kitty Meme had to go the vet :( Rob and I have been noticing that his gums have been a little more than pink where his little teeth are in the front. His teeth grew in crooked which we thought was funny and cute - but as time went on, I noticed they were an issue. Meme likes to nibble on my finger sometimes and he often likes it when I give a little push on his little teeth. However, when I did it the other day I could tell it was a little tender. Long story short, we took him to the vet who said that in fact his teeth were tender and many of them were loose. So, we had to do a little bit of dental work -- and he got all SIX of his little bottom teeth pulled. Poor baby! When I picked him up from the vet, he was still drugged out but seemed to be in pretty good spirits. I think the hardest part for me was (and is) giving him his medicines because I know they help but I also know he doesn't like it. He had to get a few stitches on his bottom gum and already we are seeing a few of the strings stick out of his mouth! Anyways - he is having a great recovery and I think we will all be much happier once all the medicine is gone and he is back to his usual self!

I got a J.O.B.!!

Today I received a call from the school I worked at last year officially offering me a job for this upcoming year! Yay!! I had the choice of two para (teacher aide) positions - one being with the student I worked with last year, or with another special needs student who needs a lot of love, care, and attention. In other words, nothing at all like my student last year.. I had my choice between these two, and I picked the new student. I'll be a full time para - which will be great because I will get health insurance, sick days.. many more benefits than working as a long term sub like I did last year. The best part of the whole thing was that I didn't even have to interview for either of the jobs because the principal knows what an great employee I am! :) I am really looking forward to working with so many of the people I worked with last year, as well as seeing some of the kids I fell in love with too!

Meeting Baby Jackson!

This morning, I got to go meet the new addition to the Burrow family, and I was beyond excited to see him! (Well, and Kelli and Andrew too, of course..!) The pictures I had seen of him did not do him justice - he is so much cuter in person! I think Kelli said it best - he really is a sweet boy who doesn't cry often except when he needs or wants something.. I got to hold him a couple times while I was there (you know, to get some practice in) and loved every second of it! In the small amount of time I was there, I could really tell what a great team Kelli and Andrew make. I love that when it's time for a diaper change, they both go to change him together. And even when Jackson wakes up at night, they are both attentive to his needs. Instead of possibly stressing out because you're awake and alone and dealing with the baby, they are able to share in it together and sometimes have a few laughs. I love that. Already I have a few pointers to take with me when the time does come for Rob and I to have kids. (Although I have no doubt we'll make a good team too..) We did take some cute pictures today, but they are not on my camera, so once I get them from Kelli I'll be sure to post a few! Happy Day!
